He became a chartered member of the landscape institute (CMLI) in 1993 and in 1995 moved to Kuala Lumpur for Aspinwall Clouston. He later returned to the UK working freelance for Broadway Malyan Landscape for a number of years until establishing his own practice in Salisbury until 2008 when he joined alshamsi terra firma, first as Senior Landscape Architect and later as Resident Director.

M. Phil in Landscape Design

At Al Falah New Community, Abu Dhabi, Alistair was immediately involved in the type of large scale, rapid delivery project that is typical of the region. Whilst in charge of alshamsi terra firma, he was very keen to diversify the client base of the company and expand into different sectors including resorts, hotels and recreational facilities and whilst being involved in many of the landscape design projects as a landscape architect, he has also successfully guided the company through the global financial crisis and set about building up a team capable of taking on a wide variety of projects in the UAE as well as other GCC countries such as Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman. He has also worked on Landscape schemes beyond the Gulf from Egypt, Afghanistan and Turkey.

Alistair’s priority had been to look after existing clients well and develop business in the UAE and the wider MENA region by gaining a reputation for bespoke landscape design and quality of service.
